Burger King Rib Sandwich Contends with the McRib

This month, Burger King will roll out the new BK Rib Sandwich in hopes of contending with McDonald’s McRib. Although, that’s a tough sell to make, given how long the McRib has been around (since 1982) and its legion of die-hard fans.

The BK Rib Sandwich features a boneless patty and sliced pickles similar to those found on the McRib. The new item also features sweet bread and a tangy sauce.Burger King’s version of the McRib has been in the works for 10 months and sold well during its testing phase in Shreveport, Louisiana. The recommended price will be set at $3.49 as a single unit or $5.59 as a meal, fries and drink included.

The item is part of their limited-time-only summer menu that will be announced Thursday, May 16, and includes the return of the Memphis Pulled Pork sandwich, California BBQ sandwiches and sweet potato fries. A new BBQ Chicken Salad and a variety of Oreo-infused desserts will also join the seasonal lineup.

The BK Rib Sandwich will be available nationally on May 21, while the entire summer menu will be promoted under the “Taste is King” slogan.
