Burger King Employee, Famous For ‘Goodie Bag’ Reward, Buys First Home With GoFundMe Donations

A couple years ago, a Burger King employee named Kevin Ford went viral after receiving a goodie bag as a reward for working there 27 years, with no days missed. The bag included a movie ticket, a bag of Reese’s Pieces, a Starbucks Tumbler, a lanyard, two pens, keychains, and two packs of Lifesavers.

Folks didn’t see this reward as one at all. In response, the internet criticized Burger King for its treatment of such a loyal, honest, hard-working employee. Some even called the contents “back to school supplies,” as they were a far cry from the reward you’d expect someone to receive after 27 years of perfect attendance.

According to ABC7LA, as his story spread, Ford’s daughter decided to create a GoFundMe page so that people could show support — she set a goal of $200 only, just to pay for Ford to visit his grandchildren.

Fast forward a year and half later and the GoFundMe page has raised a staggering $452,375 for him. Even celebrity comedian David Spade donated $5,000. Ford was able to purchase a new home with the donations, a much more fitting reward for decades of dedication.
