Blueberries are Full of Vitamin C, High in Fiber and We’re Eating 2x as Many of Them Since 2005
Blueberries, they’re plump, juicy, sweet and are best enjoyed by the fistful. Are they healthy? That’s the general consensus, we don’t need a report to learn more — but in case you do need a report, the U.S. Blueberry Highbush Council has taken it upon themselves to visualize the aforementioned health benefits.
Most intriguing, besides the fact that blueberries seem to be chock-full of vitamin C and dietary fiber, are low in fat, and full of phytonutrients, blueberry production and consumption seems to be increasing rather significantly over the past decade. Most notably, between the years of 1995 and 2011, consumption of blueberries in America tripled, climbing from 283 million lbs to 853 million lbs in 2011.
