TIL How to Turn the World into An ‘Earth Sandwich’

Bread

The sandwich is a beautiful concept, mainly because almost anything can be made into this perfect dish. A Po’ Boy Ramen version? Check. Bread Cheese Bacon Double Cheeseburger insanity? You betcha! So really, is it any surprise people have tried to make an Earth sandwich? No, seriously.

The idea is actually really cool. A few years back, blogger Ze Frank challenged his readers to find antipodes (or two perfectly opposite spots on Earth), simultaneously place bread on the ground at both locations and create a deliciously awesome globe sandwich. Spiffy, huh?

The thing is, there are very few spots in the US where tunneling straight through Earth would lead you to land. However, people have been attempting this challenge, and there was even a successful planet sandwich thanks to two participants in New Zealand and Spain.

So what are you waiting for? Send a friend to your antipode and make a sandwich stat!
