BakerTweet: Your Oven Can Now Have a Twitter Account

You can almost smell that freshly baked bread with BakerTweet. Bakeries and restaurant owners can now automatically alert customers when fresh baked goods have just come out of the oven with this nifty piece of technology. You can let them know exactly when the freshest cookies, cakes and scones are available for sale.

It’s as simple as turning the dial and hitting the button. Your Twitter followers will get a tweet telling them that its bun-time, or bread-time, or cookie-time or whatever time it may be.You may be asking why can’t I use a laptop or mobile? BakerTweet allows businesses to use Twitter to communicate in real-time about offers, pricing and stock from a device that can withstand kitchen peril and is much simpler to operate.

In simple terms, it’s a bakery-proof box that sends messages wirelessly to Twitter. The clever bit is that the baker can update their messages and things they’re selling using a simple web interface.

For those eager to see this application in action, BakerTweet has been installed at the Albion Cafe on Boundary Street in Shoreditch, London. Check out @albionsoven on Twitter to see the oven sending out Tweets, scary huh?!
