Are you ready to take the tried and true “let’s add bacon to stuff” fad to the next level? Well, you don’t really have a choice because I’m about to bring you to it and take you through with these Rice Krispies Treats with bacon AND pickled jalapeños.
Bacon and Pickled Jalapeño Rice Krispies Treats
Ingredients
– 3/4 to 1 jar pickled jalapeños (feel free to use the entire jar)
– 1lb bacon
– 6c Rice Krispies
– 4c mini marshmallows
– 2T butter
Directions
1. Cook and crumble all of your bacon. (If a strip happens to “fall” into your mouth via your hands putting it there, don’t fret. Accidents happen.).
2. Measure out Rice Krispies into a bowl and mix in bacon.
3. Drain, dry (and I mean DRY) and chop ¾ to 1 jar of pickled jalapeños.
4. Grease a 9×13 pan with shortening.
5. In a large pot on the stove, melt your butter, add in the marshmallows and melt those up, too.
6. Throw like half of the super dry jalapeño pieces into the mallow mix.
7. Add the cereal/bacon mix and the rest of the jalapeños.
8. Once that whole situation is thoroughly combined, spread that massive glob of awesome into the prepared pan.
9. Let the treats cool and set completely before cutting into them.
You have to make sure that the jalapeños are extremely dry or else the pickling juice will jack up the consistency of the treat. The sourness of the pickling juice and the spiciness of the jalapeños played in well with the greasy bacon and sweet marshmallow mix.
