Work Out And Pig Out At This Annual Bacon 5K Challenge
What better excuse to eat bacon could be out there than eating it while you exercise? You can work off the pork fat you ingest almost instantly thanks to this legit Bacon 5k run.
The Bacon 5K is an annual event put together by the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs, a Triple-A affiliate of the MLB’s Philadelphia Phillies. Located at their stadium in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the Ironpigs cook about as many slices of bacon as you run meters. For the Bacon 5K challenge, you have to stop halfway through the run and eat half a pound of pork belly before proceeding. That may not sound like a lot at first, but that translates to a whopping TEN bacon strips. Good luck trying to keep that down in the second half.
Afterwards, you’re treated to even more bacon, alongside eggs, fruit, and juice as part of a complementary breakfast. If you can stomach more bacon after a painful run on a stomach full of the strips of pig, you’ve definitely achieved top Foodbeast status.
This year’s run just recently concluded, but there will likely be another annual run from the Ironpigs coming next year. We’ll be training our bacon eating and running skills until then.
