Anti-Forever Alone Restaurant Lets You Dine with Stuffed Animals

Remember the Anti-Loneliness Ramen Bowl? Well, if you were a fan of the curious dishware, you might want to pay a visit to Japan’s Moomin Café. The café seats solo-dining patrons with large stuffed dolls to keep them company.

Based off a Swedish-Finnish book and animated series about a family of friendly creatures resembling hippopotamus, the wide-eyed stuffed characters are there to comfort lonely diners. Each Moomin Café location features decor, food and drinks inspired by the Moomin franchise.

Twitter user Haru paid a visit to the restaurant’s branch in Tokyo Dome City LaQua. Coming alone, Haru reports that after taking a seat and placing her order, a staff member told her that if she didn’t mind, there was somebody who wanted to sit with her. That somebody turned out to be the laconic “Snork Maiden,” the galpal of Moomin’s character Moomintroll, who the server brought out and placed in a chair.

“The waitress had such a big smile on her face, I couldn’t say no,” Haru told RocketNews24. “But it was also so cute!”

If anything, it’s more inviting than blow-up doll dining partners. Well, if you’re not into penis ice cream, that is.
