Alton Brown Calls It Quits On “Good Eats”

Since 1999, Alton Brown has had a Bill Nye (“The Science Guy”) type of hold on our hearts through his never-ending flow of food wisdom. Good Eats, the education-heavy Food Network cooking show hosted by Alton Brown was initially inspired by Julia Child, Mr. Wizard and Monty Python.

The series will count 249 episodes at its finale, but syndication and reruns are more than likely for years to come [Chicago Tribune]. Alton’s show, of which he both created and hosted, had an element of timelessness. The show’s individual themes and subject matter were so simple and universal that even his older episodes are watchable today.

While the show might be over, there’s no doubt Alton Brown will be a respected and notable presence within the foodie realm for years to come. Currently still the head commentator of “Iron Chef America”, frequent participant on other television shows and a respected writer, Brown is destined for foodie greatness beyond the run-dates of Good Eats.

Stay classy Alton. Follow his antics on Twitter and his official website.
