A Blockbuster Video-Themed Pop-Up Bar Will Open in LA
Iconic 90s home video go-to, Blockbuster Video, is returning to Los Angeles for a special pop-up experience. Sadly but unsurprisingly, its return doesn’t spell a resurgence of classic physical movie media like VHS and DVDs, as the pop-up will actually be a bar using a Blockbuster theme.
Located on Melrose and Formosa Ave, Angelenos looking for a nostalgia-heavy buzz can visit the Blockbuster pop-up beginning November 19th. Eater reports, the experience was produced by the crew that was responsible for the Golden Girls Kitchen, the Beverly Hills, 90210-themed Peach Pit and Saved by the Max pop-ups. Safe to say the 90s hold a dear place in their hearts.
The Blockbuster pop-up will include a full bar along with throwback products like Crystal Clear Pepsi, Tab and cocktails made with Gushers and Yoo-Hoo. The fully immersive experience will feature aisles that replace VHS tapes with beers, spirits and cocktails. Guests can order themed drinks via movie releases from the 1990s and 2000s.
Taking the trip down memory lane even further, on December 10th, guests can enjoy a weekend brunch with dishes that include Lunchables, a Blockbuster burger, “please rewind” truffle fries along with “new release” flatbread and dips.
Tickets to the Blockbuster Pop-Up Bar experience will start at $29 per person while the brunch will be $45 per person and $275 for a table of six. It’s 21 and up.
