2010 Top 5 Foodbeast Keywords: What Foods Were on Your Mind This Year

1. Carl’s Jr.: Footlong Cheeseburger

While the news of Carl’s Jr.’s Footlong Cheeseburger didn’t spawn a tenth of the fan mashups the KFC Double Down Sandwich did, the sheer amount of buzz and media coverage that was attributed this 12″ sandwich was unlike any other single food item of 2010 (save the late 4th Quarter burst by the Four Loko drink, but that’s another story).

The brand’s Footlong Cheeseburger never made it out of its testing stage, but in its short running time found coverage on all major TV outlets, including some killer prime-time and late-night programs. The viral “success” of the sandwich was coupled with a strong long-tail for web searches, which is why the sandwich has ranked #1 in specific keyword searches here on FOODBEAST. Will 2011 see an official release of this sandwich in Carl’s Jr and Hardee’s restaurants across America? Only time will tell. One thing we can conclude, you guys were indeed thinking about it this year. ALOT.
