2010 Top 5 Foodbeast Keywords: What Foods Were on Your Mind This Year

As the year 2010 comes to a rapid close, we’re going to take the next couple weeks to look back at some interesting trends in food culture. Today, we inspect the top 5 food-related (duh) keywords that have passed through to our servers from web search engines, and our own in-site search engine. As a result of this list, we’ll get to find out what the top 5 things we were thinking about this year were when it comes to food. Last year was the year of Taco Bell‘s Volcano Taco, Vitamin Water and Bacon on everything! What was on our mind in 2010?

5. Food Trucks

What was once referred to as Roach Coaches that hung out various work places offerring up various street food has since turned into a legitimate phenomenon in any city that can sustain their presence. While some see the food truck market as a passing fad, the emergence and competition between the traveling restaurants have done nothing but escalate the level of food offerrings for foodies across the nation.

Food Network caught onto the hype later into the year by throwing chef Tyler Florence into a hosting gig for the network’s food-truck-centered program: The Great Food Truck Race. Subsequently, the Food Network show made stars of the competition winners Grill ‘Em All Truck and runners up Nom Nom Truck.

Not to be forgotten, industry vets Kogi BBQ remain to be a force to be reckoned with, boasting five simultaneously roaming food trucks at any one time, several stand-alone locations and a following that’s seemingly unrivaled among their competitors. As the year progressed, a myriad of food trucks got their start and with the amount of people queuing their Internet Searches to food truck related topics, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a great deal more of this “fad” into 2011.
