Jack in the Box Rolls Out ‘Big Waffle Stack,’ because Buns Are So Banal
Replacing buns with the unconventional is the new norm, and if you aren’t sandwiching protein between two glazed donuts or something equally fantastical, you need to take it up a notch.
At least, that’s probably what the peeps behind Jack in the Box’s new Big Waffle Stack were thinking. The chain’s latest breakfast offering swaps out the buns for two toasted maple waffles and manages to sandwich two eggs, grilled sausage, ham, American cheese and smoked bacon in between. If you’ve ever eaten a savory waffle at Bruxie in Southern California, or tried the Taco Bell Waffle Taco, you’re probably already familiar with this phenomenon.
Jack in the Box also introduced Jack’s Big Stack to the menu — a double cheeseburger with onion rings, American cheese, pickles, mustard and mayo onion dressing served on a toasted sourdough bun.
Less carnivorous items joining the line up include Jack in the Box’s Iced Coffee and Loaded Chili Cheese Wedges with chili, cheese, jalapenos and onions atop potato wedges. While the Iced Coffee will be a permanent addition to the menu, the rest of the items rolling out today are available for a limited time only.
“There’s nothing light or dainty about our two new stacked sandwiches or Loaded Chili Cheese Wedges,” raved Iwona Alter, the chain’s VP of menu strategy. “They were created to satiate the heartiest of appetites. We have other menu items for guests seeking lighter fare, but if you want a flavorful combination of protein-packed ingredients to fill you up at breakfast, lunch or dinner, our new stacks and wedges won’t disappoint.”
We’ll be over here waiting for the next bright young thing.
