Pizza Hut Singapore Celebrates Chinese New Year With Coin-Shaped Pizza

pizza-hut

Nothing says “Happy Chinese New Year” like a pizza shaped like a Chinese cash coin… at least according to Pizza Hut Singapore. The new “Ring of Fortune” pizza looks pretty much exactly like a regular pizza except for the square hole in the center, which on real cash coins was used to string different coins together. Personally, I’m very on board for anything that brings us closer to a world where pizza is an accepted form of currency, and the Ring of Fortune pizza seems like just the perfect step on the road to a monetary revolution. Tasty, tasty revolution.

The pizza’s unique ingredient list features a golden pumpkin paste with taro (meant to symbolize “gold and a good year ahead”), pineapple (“for prosperity”), diced barbeque chicken, pok chui (crispy dough), and mushrooms. If that flavor combination doesn’t sound particularly fortunate to you, Pizza Hut Singapore has sweetened the deal by offering customers the chance to win cash prizes of either $888 or $88 with specified purchase, since eight is considered a lucky number. Happy feasting and good luck!
