Gluttons & Glory, Here’s What Happens When You Hold a Foie Gras Competitive Eating Challenge

Competitive eating challenges are a dime a dozen, but bring to the table a celebrated chef, high end cuisine and wagyu burgers topped with the now-banned foie gras, and a crowd will follow.

That brings us to Gluttons & Glory, a high end eating competition hosted last weekend at Orange County’s The Playground restaurant. The event saw a panel of competitors chow down into what is being called the “Shut the Duck Up” burger, along with a full order of fries, a house salad (why not) and all prefaced by downing an entire porrón of beer. First one to finish everything, wins.

Here’s what that burger looks like, live:

Of course, what would a night with foie gras be without people trying to shut down the competition before it even gets started? Let’s head outside:

Enough of that though, let’s head back inside. Get a load of competitor Matt “Sweet Tooth” Cohen and his remarkable grill:

And here’s a look at Chef Jason Quinn showing the contests how to work their porróns:

And. They’re. Off:
