The Trend of Sending Food Into the Sky — Here is Space Sushi [VIDEO]

For some reason, it’s becoming the new trend to send food and drink into space as a viral marketing tactic, and this Space Sushi is no exception. Commissioned by a small chain of sushi restaurants entitled Sticky Rice, this video put together by RVA TV and Bark Marketing ends up sending a plate of sushi above the clouds in a similar way that Natural Light beer was a few months back.

Which of the restaurant’s sushi rolls got the atmospheric treatment? It was the racism-in-cheek menu item entitled the “Godzirra Roll,” a 10 pc roll that includes large crunchy shrimp, avocado, cream cheese, spicy sauce and cucumbers w/ tempura crunchies and tobiko.

There’s a lot of thought that goes into sending food in space and filming the journey…particularly protecting the entire dish from coming apart in the high winds, -60F degree temperatures, FAA regulations, overheating or freezing batteries and stabilization.

It’s a safe bet that this roll is no longer edible, but what a fun journey:
