Adventure: BRUXIE Gourmet Waffle Sandwiches (Orange, CA)

Waffle sandwiches. You’re reading right. The sheer emergence of this new restaurant on the outskirts of Old Towne Orange is a wonder in its own right. Built out of what was once a burger stand that was open just a month prior to Bruxie‘s’ grand opening on November 8th of this year, the stand-alone walk-up waffle sandwich joint has the fearless menu of an inventive food truck and the branding of a fast food industry heavy-weight. What does “Bruxie” mean? It’s an idea…a seemingly new take on the authentic Belgium Waffle. A light, crisp, yeasty and not-so-sweet take on a classic.

You may have never been to Bruxie before, but their wicked branding, welcoming staff and “damn-that-sounds-like-it-would-go-well-together” menu options will make your first walk-up an experience to Yelp! about. Join Taylor and I as we jump into some gourmet waffle sandwiches!

Off the corner of Palm and Glassel in the heart of Orange, CA. You’ll be hard pressed to find a time of day when there isn’t a line snaked out and around their tiny building. People don’t usually wait for nasty food. Point taken. Luckily we came in between peak hours, on a rainy day….just a few people in line.

Best believe Taylor caught wind of the seasonal “Eggnog Shake” they had available. Dude is a connoisseur of shakes, so you know he had to take a dip.

Best believe we’re checking in on Foursquare and Twitter while we wait for our food!  Follow us on both so you can grab a bite with us in the future!

First up was Taylor’s order: The Bruxie Burger. This thing was fitted with an angus beef patty, cheddar cheese, sliced tomatoes, pickles, mayo and crisp lettuce all sitting on a flakey, light and crunchy Belgium waffle. Serious goodies here folks:

Of course, above, you’ll see some flicks of the obligatory Eggnog Shake that Taylor had to dive into. Both the burger and the shake come well recommended! While Taylor’s meal was delicious, mine was equally intriguing. Homeboy at the counter suggested I try the Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Waffle, complete with Chili Honey and Cole Slaw. I opted for a serving of Maple Syrup and a steaming hot cup of tea (I’m bourgeois, yeah, what can you do?) to round out the order. Oh yeah, had to hit the entire thing with a few zips of Chalula Hot Sauce:

Don’t bother Taylor, he’s eating:

If you’re hungry, Bruxie is open daily, 9 am to 9 pm. They can also be found on Facebook, Twitter and most importantly, at:
