In-N-Out 60th Anniversary Rumors

So one of our more unpredictable sources let me know yesterday that In-N-Out Burger, in celebration of its 60th anniversary on October 22nd, 2008, only, will be having an incredible sale. All hamburgers will (could) be $0.25, cheeseburgers will be $0.30, fries $0.15, and drinks at $0.10! None of this is true until we see some more reliable information though, I guess it’s just fun to think about…but considering this rumor began via a text message chain, it probably is false? But I would love to be proven otherwise, who doesn’t love In-N-Out burger?!

We have yet to hear anything from a reliable source, which is why I have kept this information off of the front page and just here on the editor’s blog. We’d like to consider this very unrealistic information, as we were tipped off via several text messages. If anyone has additional information (shoot us an e-mail on our contact page) , or if anything comes to us, we will be sure to bring it to you all! If you have an In-N-Out in your proximity, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to check and see if there’s a long line pouring out the door on the 25th (longer than usually I might say).

Keep eating!

UPDATE: We’ve received a gracious number of e-mails from our awesome readers who got their Detective Colombo on and hit up different sources including In N Out corporate offices…and it seems as if this is truly a crazy rumor. It seems as if there will be some sort of celebration, but this celebration will not include the lowering of any prices. Unless In N Out is truly doing some covert op type cover up, it looks like you will still have to pay the normal prices on your food. It does seem that their celebration has begun, and you can already order a 60th Anniversary T-shirt straight from their website! Cheers!

UPDATED #2 (10/08/08): We headed out to a local IN-N-OUT, to test the waters (we documented it, photos will be up later today). Upon asking one of the employees, we were given a very robotic, rehearsed answer of “No, that is a rumor.” We’ve gotten a few e-mails and messages that report possible traces of truth to this entire ordeal, as announced *possibly* on Fox 11 News (in the morning…roughly around 6 a.m.). Again, we’ve yet to receive visual confirmation and everything is still up in the air. Corporate continues to say no, restaurants do to, but people keep pouring in, so I guess hopes are high? Regardless, stay tuned, we’ll keep this updated if anything changes or comes up. Reporting on these rumors is making me feel like Perez Hilton or TMZ…but again I remind you this is on our “Editor’s Blog”, not our home page, which is the only reason we keep updating it this way. More than likely, we will just have to see for ourselves come the 22nd…either In-N-Out is NOT doing this special (and are in turn getting amazing press and publicity from this mumbo) or they are just waiting to surprise, and are now in an FBI-esque denial stage. Let’s have fun until then though…Good eats!
