IHOP Syrup Now Available for Your Homemade Pancakes

If you’ve ever been to IHOP and wish you could just take those cute glass syrup containers home with you for those after-shower, pre-work, pre-screwtherestofthisday pancakes, your wait is over. IHOP now has at-home versions of the notable glass syrup dispensers that make the restaurant experience so memorable.

The bottles were designed by in 12- and 24-oz packages for five flavor varieties and follow an aesthetic that does a rather decent job of porting over the restaurant syrup experience for the home kitchen.

Each package was designed to resemble “the look of the handled syrup dispensers found in IHOP restaurants, deliver a consistent, glug-free pour, and remain clean after pouring,” explains Walter A. Kresse, senior packaging consultant with Studio One Eleven Design, a firm commissioned to oversee the creation of the bottle’s design.

The structure of the syrup dispenser is notably well-thought out. Each bottle maintains a “specially designed teardrop orifice that provides an even flow, a butterfly hinge that stays open when pouring, a cutoff spout that controls the flow rate and helps prevent drips, and a one-piece construction that can be opened and closed with one hand.

Early design renderings mention the product might be microwavable, which would be absolutely awesome, but the Packaging World article on the matter mentions it without confirmation.

Regardless, the product is available on Amazon (apparently been available since late 2011 in some regional grocery stores, and a national rollout in late 2011) for those who are interested in getting the IHOP experience at home. Anyone out there tried it?
