‘The Patriot’ is What Happens When Lebanese People Want Seven Pizzas at Once

The Middle East has been on a roll with their over-the-top pizza creations as of late…not sure what they’re pumping into the water over there, but we now have a lead on one of the coolest pizzas we’ve seen in some time: The Patriot.

The Patriot is a seven-pizza-in-one dish, spotted at a cozy restaurant called Al Saniour out in Lebanon. The table-long pizza was spotted by our Foodbeast video producer Marc Kharrat during a night out in Beirut (you know…the ‘Paris’ of the Middle East). Marc tells us that the cafe is most known for being open into the late hours for party goers to end their night (or for the serious ragers, to start the night).

Some might remember that the Middle Eastern branch of Pizza Hut recently released a ridiculous pizza that infuses entire cheeseburgers right into the crust. Don’t be fooled though, The Patriot came out long before and has been a go-to dish for the neighboring community for some time.

The best part about The Patriot is the range of flavors involved. You’ll get your savory fix all the way down to your dessert fix in one pizza. Oh yeah, you can get it for the low price of 15,000 Lebanese Pounds…which roughly translates to just a few cents shy of $10. That’s right, a feast for a party, plus a few drinks and sides, for under $20? Someone get me a plane ticket!

From one end to the other, the flatbread pizza is broken down into seven different sections:

  • Za’atar: Middle Eastern dried herbs mixed with sesame seeds, dried sumac, salt and other spices
  • Jibneh w/ Pepperoni: cheese and pepperoni
  • Kishk: a fine powder made of a mixture of cracked wheat and yogurt, which has been carefully fermented
  • Sojouk: consists of ground meat with various spices usually including cumin, sumac, garlic, salt, and red pepper, fed into a sausage casing and allowed to dry for several weeks, usually fairly spicy
  • Shanklish: a cow’s milk or sheep milk cheese generally topped with finely-chopped tomato, onion, and olive oil
  • Jibneh: cheese
  • Choco Mozzarella: don’t knock the idea of chocolate spread and mozzarella cheese until you’ve tried it, it’s a perfect segue into dessert
