Mid-Atlantic Burger Chain Launches Stuffed Burgers & Stuffed Beers

The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille, a chain with roughly over 30 locations across Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC is pushing out two new creative menu branches: Stuffed Burgers and Stuffed Beers. The menu items became live on January 2nd, launching 4 different half-pound stuffed bugers, along with a line of stuffed beers, an idea that’s fresh to us, which includes doing things like The Irish Float, taking Guiness, Bacardi Oakheart Rum and vanilla ice cream, topping the entire concoction with chocolate sauce (pictured below).

Greene Turtle COO Bob Barry sounds very confident in the new products, revealing that the 65% of the chain’s total burger sales during the first week of launch were credited to the Stuffed Burgers. In our naive generalities about the industry, we’ve only seen independent burger houses offer up stuffed burgers like these, never a regional chain. The closest was Burger King’s Stuffed Steakhouse Burger, which included cheese and jalapenos stuffed right into the patty.

Still doesn’t look like these though:

The four stuffed burger options include:

  • The Bacon & Cheddar — Bacon and cheddar in the middle of the burger, topped with crispy onion straws, sauteed-mushrooms, creamy horseradish sauce and A.1. Steak Sauce.
  • The Pep & Cheese — Pepperoni, fresh basil and provolone cheese-stuffed burger topped with marinara, crispy onion straws and roasted red peppers.
  • The Spicy Jack — stuffed with jalapenos, pepper jack and cheddar cheese, topped with fresh slices of avocado, corn salsa, and cilantro ranch dressing.
  • The Ham & Swiss — Smoky pit Ham and Swiss stuffed in the burger, topped with crispy fried pickle chips and Dijon mayonnaise.

Barry continued on in his conversation with Burger blog BurgerBusiness by mentioning that the current fan favorite is the Bacon & Cheddar burger, with the other burgers following closely behind. As for the stuffed beer options, here are some more interesting flavors to expect:

  • Pennsylvania OJ — Yuengling Lager with Smirnoff Orange vodka and orange Juice
  • The Royal Stella — Stella Artois, Crown Royal and Smirnoff Blueberry Vodka
Sounds amazing. If only Greene Turtle would migrate to the West Coast, then we’d be talking!
