Is Pepsi Joining The ‘Dirty Soda’ Trend With Its New Wild Cherry & Cream Soda?
Is Pepsi jumping on the “dirty soda” trend—the fizzy drink craze taking the internet by storm? At stores since January 20, the soda giant’s new flavor is Pepsi Wild Cherry & Cream, available in regular and zero-sugar options.
The new flavor is available permanently in 12 oz cans and for a limited time in 20 oz bottles. According to the brand, consumers can expect “sweet, fruity effervescence is followed by a smooth, creamy vanilla swirl, delivering a practically silky mouthfeel.”
The “dirty soda” trend can be attributed to Swig, a Utah-based beverage company, and was popularized by the powerful influence of TikTok. Nicole Tanner, the founder of Swig, is believed to have coined the term “dirty soda”.
In layman’s terms, a dirty soda is any carbonated beverage with a creamy addition, such as milk, half-and-half, or a cream – though flavored syrups and fruit purees can also be used. The base can be regular soda, but any carbonated beverage can be used, including energy drinks.
Other soda brands have released new flavors such as Dr Pepper’s Blackberry flavor. We recently recommended “dirty soda” enthusiasts to try this new innovation. Even fast-food chains such as Sonic Drive-In have Dirty Diet Coke is on their secret menu.
Even Future, the prolific rapper himself, has a soft spot for these drinks—though his go-to mix is the infamous Dirty Sprite. Technically, it still counts… right?
