Taco Bell’s Iconic Crunchwrap Supreme Gets an Indian Buffet Upgrade

Taco Bell’s Crunchwrap Supreme is an absolute legend that’s known to shut down cravings like it’s nobody’s business. But, what if you gave it a flavor remix, dialing it up with some bold Indian spices and layers of culinary flair? That’s exactly what Chef Reuben Asaram did, bringing his magic touch to the game with the Indian Buffet Crunchwrap.  While this Crunchwrap is not available in-restaurant since it’s still in the testing and development phase, we got to try the current iteration at Taco Bell’s Test Kitchen.

Part of Taco Bell’s TBX program—which gave three emerging chefs a chance to reimagine the Crunchwrap—Chef Reuben’s creation combines the Crunchwrap Supreme’s Mexican-inspired vibes with Indian soul food. Born in India and raised in New York, he is now a Philly culinary fixture, known for turning every dish into a multi-layered flavor experience at his concept, Reuby. So, when Taco Bell opened its Test Kitchen doors for some creative magic, Reuben’s fusion concept was the perfect fit.

Let’s break down this creation: think slow-roasted chicken or crispy potato bites marinated in a creamy tomato curry, adding that cozy warmth you get from your favorite Indian dishes. Then there’s rice spiced up with Mexican flavors, a fresh cucumber mint sauce for that cool, refreshing kick, and, of course, the classic crispy corn tostada adding some serious crunch. Top that off with crisp lettuce and freshly made pico de gallo, all wrapped up in a warm tortilla—suddenly, you’re biting into a cross-continental flavor bomb that’s anything but ordinary.

Chef Reuben’s Indian Buffet Crunchwrap is more than just a remix; it’s a flavor mashup that brings together the best of both worlds. And if you want to dive deeper into Taco Bell’s innovation journey and see how they’re flipping the script on their classics, check out the TBX series on their YouTube channel. Because when you open up a Test Kitchen to chefs like Reuben, you’re not just making food—you’re creating a movement.
