Chef Roy Choi of Kogi Truck Teams Up with LG Appliances

Roy Choi has been a long-time supporter of RootDown LA, a non-profit organization that addresses health related issues such as obesity urban communities. Through its programs the organization encourages high school students to “eat their veggies,” while providing educational experiences and skills necessary to build healthier food communities.

Chef Choi believes that “today’s youth needs resources and programs that let them explore their creativity and express their emotions.” Using his leverage to team up with LG Kitchen Appliances he was able to get LG to donate 3 full kitchen suites that includes its newest Super-Capacity French-Door Refrigerator; its touch activated 30-inch Electric Induction Cooktop, and one of the largest ovens in the industry, the Built-In Double Wall Oven.

Megan Hanson, Project Co-Leader, Rootdown LA, says “Teach[ing] culinary skills with cutting edge technology” is a great way to “invigorate enthusiasm among students.”

It’s the season to give, and Chef Choi remains a great example for young chefs and is doing a great job giving back to the community.
