Shake Shack Gets ‘Swicy’ With New Korean-Style Menu Items

Shake Shack is bringing both sweet, spicy (a combo recently dubbed as “swicy”), and umami to its menu.

The NYC-based fast casual chain is launching a Korean Style Fried Chicken sandwich topped with a white kimchi slaw made with Portland-based Choi’s Kimchi. The white-meat chicken breast is coated in a spicy and sweet Gochujang glaze, sprinkled with sesame seeds and topped with the kimchi slaw on a toasted potato bun.

On the umami side is the new Korean BBQ Burger, a 100% Angus beef cheeseburger topped with crispy sweet onions, fresh scallions and the aforementioned sauce on a toasted potato bun.

Whether you choose swicy or savory, both pair with the new Spicy Korean BBQ Fries and Spicy Korean BBQ Cheese Fries, which are the brand’s famous crinkle cuts loaded with kimchi seasoning and served with a side of Korean BBQ sauce.

Shake Shack’s Korean Style Fried Chicken starts at $8.49, while the Korean BBQ Burger starts at $7.79. Spicy Korean BBQ Fries start at $3.99 and the Spicy Korean BBQ Cheese Fries start at $4.99.

All four items will be available in Shacks nationwide on January 12 for a limited time. Fans can get exclusive early access starting now via the Shake Shack app.
