Timothée Chalamet Designs A ‘Wonka’ Nike Dunk Ahead Of Film’s Release

The 1971 classic Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory is perhaps the greatest candy-centric film ever made. Continuing the story is this year’s Wonka, a prequel to the original that features Timothée Chalamet in the titular role, which debuts nationwide on December 15.

Chalamet stopped by Nike’s Beaverton, Oregon headquarters ahead of the premiere to work on a special Wonka-related project. With the help of Nike’s cutting-edge sneaker materials, Chalamet designed a Nike Dunk Low inspired by his role in the upcoming film.

“I definitely never thought I would get to be able to say that I got to design a Nike shoe, let alone a Dunk,” the actor said.

Limited to five pairs, the “Wonka” Dunks come in a wooden box, where inside, the shoes are enclosed in a velvet shoe bag embroidered with a classy “W” logo. The colorway of the shoe is purple, burgundy, and turquoise, which is very Wonka-esque. Stitches in the swooshes give it an unfinished look, but the best details are the velvet tongue and shoe laces.

Although the “Wonka” Dunks won’t have a general release, a giveaway will be hosted to promote the upcoming film. If you’re trying to score a pair, simply submit 1-minute videos of you Willy Wonka-inspired creations — “art, art, fashion, style, decor, food, gaming” — to enter. Five winners will be selected.
