McDonald’s Links Up With Kerwin Frost To Bring McNugget Buddies Back
McDonald’s has been killing it with collaborations. From Cactus Plant Flea Market to Vandythepink, the partnerships have used nostalgia in a refreshingly cool way, injecting a dose of fun into the Mickey D’s experience. The collaborations have also caused a bit of an uproar, with re-sellers scrambling to secure as many Happy Meal toy collectibles as possible. Some re-sellers even listed them on eBay for $300,000.
Continuing its successful collaboration run, McDonald’s has teamed with DJ, comedian, and fashion-head Kerwin Frost. Available December 11, the Kerwin Frost Box is basically an adult Happy Meal that includes your choice of Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac, fries, a soft drink, and limited-edition McNugget Buddy collectible designed with Frost. It will be the first McNugget Buddy released in more than 25 years.
The design of the new McNugget Buddy collection is inspired by experiences from Kerwin Frost’s childhood like his Harlem upbringing. The cast of buddies represent people from Kerwin’s life: Hisself (the mayor of Frost Way), Don Bernice (the wise stylist), Uptown Moe (the neighborhood hero), Waffutu (the curious optimist), BRRRICK (the cool guy), and Darla (the dreamer).
“I’ve loved McDonald’s since I was a kid. I even had my own Ronald McDonald doll that I brought to picture day at school, and it was my dream to collect all the McNugget Buddies,” Frost shared. “Now, coming up with my own special set of Buddies — each one representing different aspects of self-expression — it’s unreal, a dream come true. McDonald’s has been a great partner from Day One, and they’ve truly allowed me to create without limits.”
Stop by your local Mickey D’s on Monday, December 11 to get your hands on the new Kerwin Frost Box.
