Warren Buffett Suggests Folks Don’t Get Tired Of Coca-Cola Because It Has No ‘Taste Memory’
Much has been written about the success of global mega-brand Coca-Cola. Since 1886 its been leaving an indelible impression on soda-lovers, yet rumor has it that when it comes to the taste, Coca-Cola doesn’t leave an impression at all. The curious assertion was shared by Warren Buffet, who, if you’ve been living under a rock, has been one of the top five wealthiest humans since forever.
In the video, Buffet says “Coke has no taste memory. You can drink one of these at 9 o’clock, 11 o’clock, 3 o’clock in the afternoon, 5 o’clock. The one at 5 o’clock will taste just as good to you as the one you drank early in the morning. You can’t do that with cream soda, root beer, orange, grape, you name it. All of those things accumulate on you. Most foods and beverages accumulate on you — you get sick of them after a while. There is no taste memory to cola.”

Buffet goes on to assert that that’s why many people can drink up to five Coca-Cola’s each day. “They’ll never do that with other products. So you get this incredible per capita consumption. The average person in this part of the world drinks about 64 ounces of liquids a day, and you can have all 64 ounces of that be cola. You will not get fed up with coke if you like it to start with.”
At the time of the video, Buffet said that over one billion 8-ounce servings of Coca-Cola products will be served in the world, and that will grow each year.
It’s easy to conflate Buffet’s success with this being true, but that would be shortsighted. Doing some digging I was unable to find any hard evidence that supports his theory. I also know that, when faced with such a massively successful company, it’s easy to believe anything.
At any rate, one surefire way to test out this theory is to head to the store and grab a pack of Coca-Cola. How many can you drink in one day before getting tired of it?
