Did You Know There’s A McDonald’s Location Made Entirely Of Glass?

With nearly 40,000 locations around the globe, McDonald’s often vary in look from one to the next. Of course, each location carries the brand’s unmistakable golden arch, ensuring aesthetic cohesion. Every now and then, McDonald’s locations are given a completely unique design, showcasing the brand’s lesser-talked about knack for architecture.

From the historical landmark Mickey D’s in New Hyde Park, NYC, to the giant arch in Las Vegas, Nevada, unique locations become tourist hot spots. According to Business Insider, one of McDonald’s most modern-looking locations is in Batumi, Georgia, which lies along the coast of the Black Sea. Batumi is popular with tourists, as they flock to enjoy the city’s beaches, boardwalk, and 19th-century style buildings.

With a noticeable reflective glass exterior, Batumi’s downtown McDonald’s glimmers through the concrete surroundings. Constructed in 2013, it was designed by Giorgi Khmaladze, a Harvard-educated architect. Its design was awarded for The Best Commercial Building of 2014 by ArchDaily, a popular architecture website.

More minimal than other locations, you’ll only find black and white at this McDonald’s, along with wood accents. Inside, stairwells are made of glass, reflecting off of the building’s glass walls. As you can imagine, there’s tons of natural light. From the seating to the tables, everything has a modern touch. Patrons can pay through a self-service kiosk or simply order from their table. Manicured grass surrounds the building outside, blooming into a bed of flowers during the spring. It’s simply a one of a kind McDonald’s.

What’s also interesting is that it’s built atop a gas station, which connects to the drive-thru. That means you can fill up in more ways than one. If you’re overdue for a vacation, tickets to Batumi, Georgia aren’t the cheapest, but for Las Vegas vibes, boardwalks, and a super cool McDonald’s, it might just be the destination.
