SHICKEN’s Plant-Based Chicken Tikka Kebabs Rival The Real Thing

It seems like everyday there’s a new plant-based protein product popping up in grocery stores. With any alternative meat option, you’re hoping to satisfy your craving for the real thing. Thankfully, with so many brands shooting their shot, a few are bound to hit the mark.

Speaking of alternative meat options that’ll satisfy your cravings, enter SHICKEN, a family-owned business based in England that makes vegan-friendly Indian cuisine. The products range from ready-made sauces to a selection of recently released frozen chicken flavors. To say that they’re some of the tastiest, juiciest, alternative chicken proteins I’ve ever had is an understatement.

“When we first launched SHICKEN at home during the pandemic, we knew we had created something special with a unique point of difference in the category. We poured our passion for restaurant-quality and authentic Asian flavours into our brand and have been delighted with the feedback from retailers and consumers,” says co-founder Satvinder Bains.

Shortly following their launch, SHICKEN was able to get their frozen Tikka Kebabs in over 30 Costco locations in Europe, along with three major grocery chains in Iceland. They come in three authentic flavors: SHICKEN tikka masala, korma, and tikka kebabs. Each is rich and savory, made using a recipe that has been passed down through two generations. Husband and wife founders Satvinder and Parm Bains now ensure the delicious recipe lives on through SHICKEN.

Keeping it real, SHICKEN’s vegan chicken has the signature chargrilled texture and taste that closely resembles the real thing. Along with traditional Indian dishes like curry, masala, and korma, this mouthwatering chicken is great solo or mixed with veggies. Following the sudden success, SHICKEN has its sights on further expansion, exporting flavorful offerings around the world. To achieve their lofty, yet respectable goals, they’ve invested over one million into a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant.

“These are dishes I would prepare for my family at home and it’s incredible to now be sharing this with many other families across the globe as more people look to reduce their impact on the planet. Our new manufacturing site is helping to open up a wealth of opportunities to us as we scale up our operations — the sky’s the limit,” Satvinder says.

While we impatiently wait stateside for SHICKEN’s chicken, those in Europe can find the nearest store lucky to have it stock here. They can also be ordered online — that is if they’re still in stock.
