A Study Says That Drinking Coca-Cola And Pepsi Can Lead To Larger Testicles

Researchers at the Northwest Minzu University in China have conducted a study into soda consumption’s impact on male testosterone. Published in the scientific journal Acta Endocrinol, results suggest that carbonated beverages increase not only testosterone levels in men, but testicle size as well.

The goal behind the study was to determine whether fertility was negatively affected, as previous studies have shown. Whereas past results show that soda harmed reproductive functions, reduced sperm quantity and motility, this latest study found the opposite.

Using mice as test subjects, researchers designated several groups of male mice. Only water was provided for one group, while the other groups were given different quantities of Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Blood and weight tests, including measurements of testicle diameter, were performed over a 15-day period, as the mice consumed their given liquids. On the final day, scientists noted that the testicles of mice that drank Coca-Cola or Pepsi had increased significantly.

“The outcomes demonstrated a high dose of Pepsi-Cola or Coca-Cola could promote testis growth and development,” study results stated. Along with testicular growth, the study also found that the mice’s serum testosterone had increased, which is evidence of enhanced testosterone secretion.

“In conclusion, drinking Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola could promote testis development, enhance testosterone secretion, increase serum EGF concentrations, also accelerated expressions of AR protein in the mice testes. Our findings provided the scientific bases and for fully understanding CBs effects and their mechanism on development and reproduction functions of humans, but also benefit to prevent prostate dysfunction and cancer.”

Current results aside, researchers did emphasize that previous findings are contradictory. For example, one study surveyed 2,500 men, and results showed that drinking one-liter of soda everyday reduced sperm quantity by 30%. Another study found that soda impacts ovulation by causing alterations to hormones. In light of the latest findings, more research on the connection between carbonated beverages and fertility is still required.

Those looking for a testosterone boost should be mindful of soda’s testicle-increasing powers, as consumption of carbonated beverages can still lead to obesity, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes. According to Coca-Cola, for every 300 mL can, there’s 35 grams of sugar. While Pepsi’s 335 mL cans boast over 41 grams of sweetness.
