6-Year-Old Orders $1,000 Worth Of Food From Grubhub Using Dad’s Cell Phone

While playing with the app on his father’s cell phone, six-year-old Mason Stonehouse accidentally ordered almost $1,000 worth of food from Grubhub, generously giving each delivery a 25% tip.

Around 9pm, orders ranging from pizza, chili cheese fries, and chicken pita wraps began arriving at a Michigan family’s home. Little did they know the doorbell would be ringing all night. According to Fox 2, the first delivery driver arrived with a shrimp appetizer, several chicken sandwiches, and ice cream from his father’s favorite spot, Leo’s. And that was just the beginning.

Almost as if it were an elaborate prank, delivery driver after delivery driver was captured by the family’s Ring camera. “I’m picking up more food, and it happens again and again,” Mason’s dad Keith told Fox 2. “Cars are coming in the driveway, while cars are leaving the driveway.” Keith didn’t realize what was happening until he received a fraud alert from Grubhub.

“I looked at my phone, and it said ‘Chase fraud alert: $439 for pizzas.” Keith shared. When he tried to call the restaurants and stop the orders, he was told to contact Grubhub.

Mason’s mother Kristin revealed that her husband had ordered dinner using Grubhub only moments before, and possibly left the app open. At some point, Mason got his hands on the phone and retreated to the basement where he began his order spree. “He’s very smart,” Kristin said. “He’s not your average 6-year-old.”

The next day, stocked with plenty of food, they sat Mason down to tell him that what he did was basically theft. As a consequence, they took away the $115 savings in his piggy bank as repayment for the money he spent on Grubhub. “Then he found a penny on the floor and said he could start all over again,” Kristin said.

Grubhub thankfully caught wind of the funny ordeal and offered the Stonehouse family a $1,000 gift card.
