This Mini Sushi Restaurant Was Built Out of a Tiny Storeroom in a Hotel Lobby

One of Los Angeles’ most authentic sushi experiences happens to be inside a tiny space that used to be a storeroom tucked away in the lobby of the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows. Enter Soko, by Sushi Chef Masa Shimakawa, and step inside a restaurant that’s small in space, yet packs in a ton of authenticity.

The eight-seater restaurant is a literal hidden gem (Soko translates to “storeroom” in Japanese), that showcases Chef Shimakawa’s refined techniques that pay proper homage to the artistry of sushi.

Attention to detail here translates to the freshest selection of Tuna, Red Snapper, Selva Shrimp, Yellowtail, Omega Blue kanpachi, Ora King Salmon, Horse Mackerel, Tamago, Uni, Salmon Roe and more.

Soko presents sushi as an intimate experience, dialing up on the authenticity and craftsmanship, all while creating a feeling that no matter the size of the restaurant, what matters most is what’s served on your plate.
