NYC Bar Turns Choco Taco Into A Cocktail

The Choco Taco is gone but not forgotten. If you want to pay homage to the recently retired dessert classic and live in New York, you can sip on a boozy version of the sweet treat at Amy Fontaine’s.

The Manhattan restaurant and bar enlisted Bartender Cody Goldstein of Muddling Memories to create the sweet & salty dessert cocktail featuring Tequila Cazadores, amaro, cold brew, and other surprises all this month.

For those not in the NYC area or if you just want to mix up the cocktail at home, here’s the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz Tequila Cazadores Blanco
  • 2 ounces Chicory Cold Brew
  • 1/2 oz Heavy Cream or Coconut Cream (for non dairy guests)
  • 1/2 oz Averna Amaro
  • 1/2 oz Waffle Cone Syrup
  • A pinch of Sea Salt
  • Chocolate Fudge Shell Rim
  • Dry Roasted Peanuts

Method: Add tequila, cold brew, heavy cream, Averna, waffle cone syrup and sea salt into a shaker. Dry shake (without ice) for 10 seconds then add 3 ice cubes and shake for another 5 seconds. Strain into a coupe glass that has been rimmed with fudge shell chocolate and rolled in dry roasted peanuts.
