This French Press Brews Coffee In Your Car Or With Solar Power

If you’re camping or on a road trip, a steaming pot of coffee is one of the things many of us look forward to in the morning. A new crowd-funded device could make it possible to brew your coffee from your car, or entirely on solar power.

This new coffee maker comes from GoSun, a company known for making solar-powered cooking tech — like stoves powered by the sun. Their new GoSun Brew, which launched recently on Kickstarter, combines a French press and a coffee brewer together while making power options easily accessible.

If you have a car charger port, the coffee maker can plug into that to charge. You then just need to add coffee grounds and water, heat up the device, and plunge to get that French press coffee experience.

GoSun also has a solar-charged power bank that can charge or power the coffee maker as well as charge a bunch of other devices, making it clutch for when you need your phone in the wild.

Both of these products are available as part of GoSun’s Kickstarter, which is fully funded but still actively running. The GoSun Brew is available at a pledge of $59 or more, and has a suggested market price of $99. Getting the power bank thrown in requires a pledge of $269 or more, with a suggested retail price of $499.

It’s definitely expensive in terms of both coffee makers and power banks, but the solar powered aspect, allowing you to self-charge whenever the sun is out, comes in clutch. Plus, there’s not exactly a Starbucks on every street corner when you’re on a trip — so what’s that phone charge and coffee worth to ya?!
