DIY Your Pride With Medicated Make-Your-Own Donuts

It doesn’t take much convincing to see that there’s something about the LGBTQ+ community and cannabis that go together like JVN and a midi skirt. Not only are they a natural fit as once taboo topics and lifestyles only now being embraced by the public on a more national scale, but in addition, the cannabis industry owes a sizable debt to the Queer community, who served as some of the earliest activists for medical legalization in response to the AIDS crisis. Were it not for those individuals, cannabis access as it exists today may not have been possible.

While there aren’t enough baked goods in the world to pay that debt of gratitude, these medicated, decorate-your-own donut recipes using product from Blüm Dispensary might start the ball rolling. Like any good Pride, these donuts are all about creativity and resourcefulness, taking something accessible and elevating it with flavor and flair.

Chocolate Strawberry Covered Donuts

Ready in 20 minutes
Serves 6

Not only is this chocolate award winning, but its medium-high cocoa percentage (73%) marries beautifully with the sweet ripeness of fresh strawberries for a donut so good it’ll test your restraint.

Ingredients
6 store bought glazed donuts
1½ cups melting chocolate
6 segments Bhang Cannabis Infused Dark Chocolate (10 mg THC per segment)
1 cup fresh strawberries, cleaned and cubed

Preparation

1. In a double boiler pan, bring two cups of water to a boil. Place melting chocolate into the upper pan and reduce heat to low. Stir until smooth.

2. Incorporate and melt Bhang Cannabis Infused Dark chocolate. Stir until smooth, then remove chocolate mixture from the heat.

3. Generously coat the face of each donut with melted chocolate and set on a cooling rack.

4. Garnish liberally with strawberries.

Tip
No double boiler? No problem! You can melt chocolate in the microwave, it just takes a little patience and a watchful eye. Placing your chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, microwave for 10 second bursts at 20% power, stirring in between to keep chocolate even and smooth.

Happy June Blüm!

As always, remember that cannabis edibles, especially tasty ones like these, should be clearly marked to avoid consumption by children.

  • Edibles contain THC but because it passes through your stomach & intestines to get into your bloodstream, you may not feel the effects for between .5 to 4 hours. So, don’t overconsume these tasty treats in search of a buzz. Do not exceed the recommended serving or you may end up with far more THC in your system hitting you all at once, which can be unexpected, disorienting and dangerous.
  • Desserts should be bomb, and these are, but we all have a tendency to overindulge when it comes to the sweet stuff. Take your time and savor these badass desserts; you will not only savor them more but the experience will be more enjoyable because you will avoid a cascade of THC hitting you all at once because you snarfed down the entire plate in like two seconds. Be safe. Be smart. Enjoy.
