Mexican 7-Up Bottles Recalled For Deadly Traces Of Meth
You usually have to pay extra to get a little pick-me-up in your drink, but in this case it was unwanted, and actually deadly.
Baja California had to recall 2-liter bottles of 7-Up, as traces of meth were found within, hospitalizing eight people and even killing one.
Now 2-liter bottles of the soda are being pulled from stores, with over 77,000 bottles being collected according to Fox News.
According to the Baja California Attorney General, Jose Maria Soto Gastellum, 37, was the lone death, with another person still hospitalized, and six others discharged last week.
There have been no reported cases in the U.S., but officials are warning traveling citizens to be cautious and if they feel any symptoms such as, “abnormal” taste, burning sensations in the esophagus or abdomen, nausea or vomiting, and irregular heartbeat or difficulty breathing, they should immediately contact poison control.
There have been no reports affecting 7-Up’s other brands such as Dr. Pepper or Snapple, so it seem’s to be isolated to 7-Up’s bottles.
When something like this happens, Breaking Bad always comes to mind. It’s just a little scarier when it’s real life.
