If you’re a fan of both BBQ chicken and fried chicken and have a tough time deciding between the two, KFC’s got the hookup for giving you the best of both worlds.
After having successfully launched two flavorsome fried chicken flavors (Nashville Hot and Georgia Gold), KFC is ready to test out a third new flavor: Smoky Mountain Fried Chicken. Named after a mountain range that separates Tennessee and the Carolinas, this chicken is meant to be a bridge between the differing styles of BBQ from these different regions.
North and South Carolina are known for their vinegar-based tangy barbecue sauce, whereas Memphis can go either dry or wet-style with a rub or a tomato-based barbecue sauce. KFC claims to have joined the two together to create a unique sweet and smoky BBQ sauce that barbecue enthusiasts around the country will want to try.

If you’re down to try some of this BBQ fried chicken, KFC will be launching the Smoky Mountain Flavor into select restaurants in Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, and Chicago. Hopefully, it’ll spread to the rest of the country soon so we can all jump in on this blend of chicken cooking styles.
