Airline CEO Takes A Cream Pie To The Face Like A Champ [WATCH]

If you’re about to give a big talk to hundreds of people, the last thing you probably want happening to you is to get a cream pie stuffed in your face. Unfortunately, for Qantas CEO Alex Joyce, that’s exactly what happened this morning.

The Australian airline CEO was giving a speech at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Perth, West Australia, when an unknown assailant strolled up to the stage, pie in hand, and just gave Joyce a full-on smack with the dessert.

The pie smasher was detained almost immediately by security and escorted away by police, but it’s still unclear as of right now what his motives were. To add insult to injury for the attacker, Joyce recovered almost instantly, cracking a couple of jokes before leaving briefly to clean himself up. He then returned and gave his speech without his now pie-stained suit jacket.

He later joked to reporters that he “didn’t have a chance to taste it” since most of the pie landed on his glasses. In fact, the only concern Joyce had with the whole event was where the nearest dry cleaner was.

UPDATE: CNN Money reports that Joyce was attacked because of his strong public support for same-sex marriage. Joyce and other CEOs recently set out a letter to the Australian government asking them to legalize same-sex marriage, which the guy who pied Joyce, Tony Overheu, took major offense to.
