How To Make Britain’s Legendary Clotted Cream At Home [WATCH]

If you’ve never had authentic British clotted cream, you’ve been missing out.

Sure, you might be able to find a tiny jar of it that doesn’t taste that great in some specialty import stores, but it doesn’t come close to spreading a generous portion of the real deal on a scone.

Fortunately, it’s quite simple to make, as Chef John from FoodWishes has demonstrated with the above YouTube video. Chef John takes you through the entire process on how this morning spread is made, and its one of the simplest recipes I’ve ever watched.

For those of you who have never heard of clotted cream, it’s a sweet, buttery, and rich spread made from gently warming cream with indirect heat. It gets its name from the “clots,” or solidified thickness, of the cream that results from that cooking process. Popular for tea time and to spread on scones in Britain, the name makes it slightly offsetting to the rest of the world.

Problem with that is that everybody outside of the UK is sleeping on clotted cream as a result. It’s really one of the greatest tasting foods in the world. As Chef John puts it:

“I can’t decide whether this stuff tastes like the world’s creamiest butter or the world’s butteriest cream.”

Neither can I, but man, is this spread delicious.

Seriously, watch the video, learn how to easily make this British staple, and spread it on everything. Scones, biscuits, pancakes, cobblers, or even stick it in some ice cream or in between some crepes.

It’s a shame that more places in the US don’t make or offer this luxurious morning treat.
