This Brewery Created a “Thanks Obama” Beer For Inauguration Day

Barack Obama has done a lot of important things and created a lot of poignant discussions during his presidency. One of the most viral of those happens to be a meme: “Thanks Obama,” which tends to poke fun at the 44th President by blaming him when things go wrong in our lives.

That meme has been immortalized in the form of America’s favorite beverage: beer.

Surly Brewing Company in Minnesota unveiled their “Thanks Obama” beer, a Winter Rye IPA that features aromas of candied grape and vanilla cream. Exclusively available on tap in their destination brewery, Surly will begin pouring this beer on the most appropriate day to do so — Inauguration Day.

Now, before anyone gets political about the beer’s name or what it represents, Surly has already prepared for that and released this statement:

Beer is one of the few bipartisan things left in this country, so please don’t yell at us about the name on the internet, even though we know you’re going to anyway.

Instead, Surly prefers that you grab a pint of this new beer, drink it on Inauguration Day, and reflect on Barack Obama’s legacy (whether you agree or disagree with what he did) while drinking a beverage that all Americans can enjoy.

Thanks, Obama.
