Woman Hasn’t Let Down Syndrome Stop Her From Being A Cookie Queen

For years, Boston native Collette Divitto had trouble finding work. Whether it was because of her disability, or something else, who knows, but she took matters into her own hands and decided to start a business on her own.

Divitto, 26, was born with Down syndrome, but wasn’t going to let that stop her from being a kick-ass cookie-baking boss.

She went from selling 100 cookies a week at a small Boston market, to now having to pump out 4,000 orders, totaling up to as much as 50,000 cookies.

After people became aware of Collette’s cookie business from a CBS News report, things really took off, as the support poured in, heavily. There has even been a Go Fund Me page started, where people can donate and really help get her business going.

Collette’s mother, Rosemary Alfredo, told CBS News that she believes Collette was driven by the job rejections, and turned a negative into a positive.

Collette doesn’t have to worry about job-searches anymore, as she is now baking and shipping out thousands of her chocolate chip and cinnamon “Amazing Cookies.” No, seriously, that’s what they’re called. How can you not want an “Amazing Cookie?”

Divitto seems to be fully aware that her business is getting worldwide attention, and hopes that others with disabilities will see what she is doing, and be inspired.
