3 Unexpected Spice Recommendations From Renowned Chef Ludo Lefebvre
In a recent short video presented by ZClip, makers of the ultra-slim lightweight money clip system,’ we find the video’s subject, celebrity Chef Ludo Lefebvre, discussing two very important “F’s” in his life—fatherhood, and food.
In the Father’s Day themed short, the renowned Chef discusses how cooking has positively affected his life as a father, inspiring patience and compassion ever since he began the practice at the age of 14, and now, being a master chef, TV personality, and restaurateur of Trois Familia in Los Angeles. All the while, we’re shadowing Lefebvre as he makes his way from interacting with his Trois Familia crew, to picking up some sweet kicks and expertly selecting some spices for future cookery. You might notice that Lefebvre’s able to pay for these items pretty conveniently with his slim, sexy and secure Zclip (jealous!).
Speaking of spices, what spice recommendations does one of the best modern chefs of our time have to share? We asked, Ludo answered:
Wattle Seed
PC: Eherb.com
Wattle seed is a “ground spice ideal for seasoning on meats,” which Chef Lefebvre describes as “naturally reminiscent of hazelnuts and chocolate with hints of coffee.” Sounds like we need to add this stuff to our spice cabinets ASAP!
Hibiscus Flower
PC: Wikipedia
Lefebvre notes that its spice is an “excellent addition to strawberry salad with its cranberry-tart and floral flavoring”—so stop hogging all that fresh flower for your jamaica, y’all.
Dry Limes (Combwa)
PC: Bon Appetit
Combwa is used as an “alternative spice with acidic kick, giving great complexity to fish.” Very ideal for Chef Lefebvre’s traditional Father’s Day fish tacos—a tradition we’re more than happy to be a part of, by the way (just say the word, Ludo!).
