Eat Like A Deity, Galaxy Printed Desserts Are The Latest Food Trend
If you’ve been anywhere near the Internet in the last month or so, you’re bound to have seen the rainbow food trend that has been taking the world by storm. It seems like you can’t get too far without rainbow bagels, rainbow lattes, rainbow grilled cheese, and even rainbow sushi bombarding you on social media. Rainbow foods are cool — we get it.
But it seems like the reign of rainbow foods is quickly coming to an end with the introduction of the newest food blogging craze: galaxy-printed foods.
This trend, which is skewed towards desserts for the most part, pays homage to the glorious beauty of space in some of the most delicious ways imaginable. I already spend half my time drooling over desserts on Instagram, but now? My food envy is starting to get out of hand looking at these galactic treats. The trend really began to take off a few weeks ago when vegan food blogger @sobeautifullyraw created these intergalactic, vegan-friendly donuts. Immediately, a slew of copycat recipes popped up on Instagram and the galaxy craze was officially underway.
Seriously, how do people even make these? And how do you bring yourself to eat them when they look so freaking cool. These space cupcakes by Brooklyn-based food blogger @cloudykitchen actually look like you’re holding the whole universe in your hand… if you could eat the whole universe in one bite.
While the trend had been picking up steam for some time throughout the winter and spring, rainbow EVERYTHING was still controlling the Internet. Case in point, these galactic macaroons were posted on Reddit by user @puncha_yo_bunz back in December of 2015. They were so ahead of their time.
But now that we’ve exhausted nearly every food that could feature ROYGBIV, this far-out trend is going to be taking over your Instagram and Twitter feeds for the weeks to come.
Ultimately, this food trend (like most crazes) will be replaced by something cooler. But for now, we are completely satisfied with staring at these awe-inspiring desserts and pretending that we’re gazing into the beautiful depths of space. But in reality, we’ve been staring at a pile of donuts for 20 straight minutes. We are totally fine with that.
