New Keurig-Like Machine Makes Fresh Tortillas In Seconds
Making tortillas by hand isn’t super hard, but if you want a robot that’ll do all the work for you without having to take a drive to the supermarket, the new Flatev machine has you covered.
The Flatev is the latest Kickstarter darling that has people buzzing as it works kind of like a Keurig, with pods of dough that you just stick in the machine, select a desired softness, and let it work its magic.
The campaign claims that within the little oven, the dough hops out of the pod, begins baking and slides out of the little drawer in less than a minute.
They claim that the tortillas are gluten-free, all-natural and organic. In other words, they’re on-demand hipster tortillas.
As you can imagine, this campaign immediately reached its pledge goal of $50,000, surpassing $127,000 as of this writing, with 23 days to go.
You can still get one of these for $239, which is a considerable discount from their retail price of $437, but that’s still a lot of money for a food that supposed to be inexpensive in nature.
If you have enough dough to grab one of these, by all means, go for it. But you can make a LOT of tortillas with $20 and a skillet.
