The World’s Coolest Cooler Just Became Kickstarter’s Biggest Fail

In July 2014, we wrote about the Coolest Cooler, a state-of-the-art cooler that would become the second most funded thing on Kickstarter, generating more than $13 million in one month.

Nearly two years later, the company is asking backers to fork up another $97 in order to get their coolers “expedited,” and people think that’s pretty uncool.

Today, approximately 36,000 backers have STILL not received a cooler or a refund, and according to Motherboard, Coolest’s creators blame unforeseen costs and design limitations that made it impossible to follow through on the Dec. 2014 shipment dates.

What’s making things worse — and more confusing — is that the Coolest Cooler is available on Amazon.com for $399.99. The company has issued several excuses and even hosted a Google Hangout to justify the legality of this miserable failure, but most people aren’t buying it.

It’s safe to say tempers are boiling at this point, as there’s even a private Facebook Group for “Rants and Reviews” of the cooler.

People are still very active in criticism of the Coolest Cooler on the original Kickstarter page too.

Now, the creators of the Coolest Cooler say they need another $15 million to make the dream a reality.

Oh, and they won’t ship any until they get it.

Great job, Coolest Cooler! You’ve somehow succeeded in becoming one of the most uncool companies ever.
