The Ultimate Guide To Hacking In-N-Out’s French Fries
In-N-Out is a staple on the west coast and although their menu might look basic, there’s a whole lot of upgrades you can make, even with something as simple as their fries.
Some of these you can order as soon as you walk up to that register, while others will require a little creativity on your part. Either way, you’ll never have to eat your In-N-Out fries naked again, even though they’re just as amazing on their own.
Take some notes, and next time you have lunch at the home of the Double-Double, you can hack the fries to your liking:

__________
THE FRIES YOU CAN ORDER:
__________
Classic Fries
Won’t spend too much time on these. You either love them, or hate them. There’s no in between. Chances are you’ll love them, though, and you’ll love them more with some of the modifications below.
__________
Animal Style Fries
Let’s just get this one out of the way. In-N-Out regulars know all about this combination that includes a couple slices of cheese, a gererous amount of their special sauce and delicious grilled onions overtop. This one’s easy. Do this and you’re set, but it’s not the only upgrade.
__________
Cheese Fries

If you don’t feel like going full animal, cheese fries are a more than satisfactory alternative. They’ll gladly top off your order of fries with a couple of cheese slices and if you’re feeling bold, you can ask for extra cheese.
__________
Made-to-Order Fries
In-N-Out makes their fries fresh to order, so you have the option of having them custom cooked. If you want them a little crispier, you can order them “light-well.” If you want them even darker and crispy, you can order them “well-done.” If you want them almost burnt and inedible, you can get them “extra well-done.” If you want them to be soft and terrible, you can order them “light.” You can even get them saltless.

__________
Lemon-Pepper Fries

You’re gonna need a little elbow grease for this one, as you can’t order it up front, but it’s so easy to put together on your own. Both the lemons and the peppers are available with the rest of the condiments. Just mix the two together and you’ll have some spice in your delicious In-N-Out fries.
__________
Chopped Chilies
For a small fee, you can ask for chopped chilies on top of your fries, or Animal Style fries. Yeah, the chilies are usually FREE on a burger, but I guess they’re considered an extra feature on the fries. Still worth it.
__________
Roadkill Fries
This is the closest you’ll get to carne asada fries at In-N-Out. You essentially just order Animal Style fries and top it with a Flying Dutchman, which is on their secret menu and is pretty much a breadless cheeseburger. Throw on some chopped chilies if you’d like.
__________
Spread Fries
If you don’t want to commit all the way to the Animal Style experience, you can just ask for some special spread packets on the side and use them like you would ketchup. A simple tip that is 1/3 as satisfying as Animal Style fries.

__________
Monkey Style
This is something you probably did when you were a kid, but here at Foodbeast, we love putting Animal fries inside the burger, to make a Monkey Style Burger. There’s something satisfying about mashing together both of In-N-Out’s Animal Style items for this dirty piece of deliciousness.
__________
Shake Fries
Along the same lines of just stuffing your fries in a burger, don’t be afraid to dip them in your milkshake. I can’t be the only one who enjoys the combination of something warm and salty, with something sweet and cold.
__________
Peppered Ketchup
Another simple upgrade requires nothing more than dousing your ketchup with a bit of pepper and dipping your fries in it. Simple, yet satisfying.
