Ramen Con Leche: An Asian Twist On A Classic Hispanic Dessert

If you’ve ever had Ramen for dinner and wished you could have a bowl of it for dessert, we’ve got you covered.

The Japanese noodle is a savory staple in Japanese culture, but blend it with a bit of Latin American inspiration, and you’ve got yourself Ramen con Leche.

Inspired by Arroz con Leche, the sweet rice pudding often made in Spanish-speaking countries, Ramen con Leche adds a Japanese twist to the cinnamon-filled dessert.

If your mouth watered at the thought of these two dishes together, our buddy Hector Gomez sweet and simple recipe you can try at home:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of water
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 instant ramen packets
  • 3 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of evaporated milk
  • 1 cup of sugar

Directions:

  1. Pour the 4 cups of water and 2 cinnamon sticks into a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  2.  Toss in the 2 packets of ramen, as the water boils and let it cook for 5 minutes, occasionally stirring.
  3.  After the noodles are cooked, pour in the cup of evaporated milk, 3 cups of milk and the cup of sugar, letting it cook for five minutes.
  4.  (Optional) Sprinkle cinnamon over top and enjoy.
