Science Says Booze Can Help Alzheimer’s Patients Live Longer

This is a really specific demographic, obviously, but a study published in the Journal BJM Open Friday, showed that drinking might actually help people with mild Alzheimer’s live longer.

The researchers studied people with mild Alzheimer’s for three years and found that those who had a couple drinks of alcohol per day had a 77 percent lower risk of dying than those who didn’t drink daily, according to Time.

The researchers didn’t really find out “why” drinking booze helped, but the paper’s author, Franz Boch Waldorff, told Time that it’s possible the patients who drank were more social and had a better quality of life.

Take this info how you may, but it’s pretty interesting that the drinkers are not only living better, but will do so longer.
