Why French People Went Bar Hopping After The Terrorist Attacks

After the terrorist attacks in France that took the lives of 129 and wounded hundreds more, many Parisians did not want to show fear, but searched for examples of solidarity instead.

Tuesday, the French people found a way to take a stand through food and drinks.

The hashtag #TousAuBistrot, which loosely translates into “Everyone, to the pub” resulted in over 2,500 Instagram photos, showing Parisians populating restaurants, bars and cafes around the city.

This was their way of showing they were not going to let fear keep them indoors, or away from regular daily activities.

The French food site, Le Fooding, said the event helped keep things normal by continuing to support its local establishments, continuing to be with friends and continue to eat.

 

Some Parisians even had a message for the attackers in the form of a classic hand gesture:

While a lot of the city was shut down Saturday after the attacks, it didn’t take long for the people of France to bounce back.
